Job Description

We are seeking a talented Marine Machine Design Engineer to join our marine engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems on marine vessels, ensuring compliance with industry standards, marine regulations, and best practices.
  • Perform detailed engineering analysis, including stress analysis, fatigue analysis, and failure analysis, to ensure the reliability and durability of designs.
  • Create and review technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Lead engineering teams, assign tasks, provide technical oversite, manage scope and budget, schedule, and develop proposals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into vessels.
  • Determine power and control requirements and select appropriate components for electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic powered machinery.
  • Determine feasibility of machinery for marine applications.
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis on machinery and components.
  • Estimate cost to design, fabricate, and install machinery.
  • Utilize CAD software to create 3D models, drawings, and simulations of mechanical systems.
  • Keep informed about recent developments in mechanical engineering and machine design and incorporate this knowledge into current projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a machine design engineering environment, maritime and consulting engineering experience is .
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure in a relevant discipline is expected. Applicants without PE license who meet the experience requirements of professional licensure may be considered.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design principles.
  • Strong knowledge of materials science, mechanics of materials, and machine elements.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Rhino3D, and SolidWorks) and engineering FEA analysis tools (Simulation, Femap, or Maestro).
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Due to project restrictions, Glosten will only consider applicants with unrestricted access to work in the United States or those eligible for TN visas.
  • Some travel and fieldwork are required. Some project assignments may require a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card.
