Client: Oil & Gas Operator / E&P
The Marine Superintendent is responsible for offshore implementation of navigation, shipment handling procedures for Oil Vessels, shipboard management, seamanship, safe operations of vessels and compliance with marine requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and management across the field of marine vessel operations.
- Supervise and guide vessel Captain and crews on deck operations and nautical matters.
- Participation in all marine related risk assessments / Hazard and Operability processes and responsible for the follow up and closure of all Marine operations related action items.
- Participation in mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning of all marine system
- Ensure up-to-date compliance with international maritime safety regulations, environmental regulations, as well as industry-specific standards and guidelines.
- Conduct onboard regular inspections, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage budgets and allocate resources for vessel operations, maintenance and repairs and ensure cost-effective solutions whilst maintaining safety and compliance standards.
- Monitor vessel performance, assess and identify potential risks to vessel operations and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Coordinate and implement emergency response procedures and function as a point of contact during emergency situations.
- Communicate with vessel crews, senior management, port authorities, and regulatory bodies responsible for preparing reports, safety incidents, maintenance activities, and compliance status.
- Provide leadership and management across the field of Marine operations.
- Implement quality control measures.
- Mentors less experienced company co-workers and inculcate a learning and development culture together with coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
- Ensures good service quality.
Qualification & Certification:
- Bachelors Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field
- 17 years of experience as Marine Superintendent in Offshore Production Operations
- Relevant Certification as a Marine Superintendent or Marine Master preferred
- Certificate of Competency (CoC) (Deck Officer) Class 1
- Oil & Gas Operator Company experience
- Good communication, interpersonal and people management skills
