Materials Planner

Job Description

We are looking for a Materials Planner to ensure a steady supply of materials in line with production schedules while maintaining optimal stock levels. The role requires a proactive approach to managing inventory, supplier relationships, and problem-solving to support seamless production operations.

Salary

  • £24,500 - £26,000 – Graduate
  • £28.000 - £30,000 - 1+ years’ experience

Material Planning & Inventory Management

  • Plan and schedule material supply to align with production needs while maintaining minimum safety stock levels.
  • Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions to avoid shortages.
  • Oversee day-to-day order management, supplier scheduling, and delivery coordination.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that may impact production.
  • Take corrective actions in response to material shortages and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Continuously seek and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Manage the scheduling of bought-in goods, including import documentation control.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date inventory data using IT systems such as Sage, WMS, and supplier portals.
  • Coordinate stock transfers from external warehouses and process purchase orders.
  • Conduct desktop inventory checks for accuracy and minimize obsolete stock to reduce liability.
  • Prepare regular statistical reports and analysis for business updates.
  • Provide cover for Materials Planning duties during team absences.


Supplier & Internal Relationship Management

  • Communicate planned delivery schedules and forecasts to suppliers to meet production demands.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure on-time, in-full deliveries.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth operations.
