PURPOSE OF THE ROLE A Mechanical Tradesperson at Longford has responsibility for a wide range of maintenance activities associated with the operations of a fast-paced manufacturing facility. The Tradesperson performs maintenance activities on the plant to ensure the ongoing availability and reliability of the plant equipment and processes. The role works in cooperation with other maintenance team members to ensure the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of the plants electrical and mechanical assets. In addition to the maintenance activities, the role is required to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in process, systems and equipment as well as manage nominated minor capital projects. MAJOR FUNCTIONS OF THIS JOB Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this is a trades position within the plant maintenance team. The position is hands on, requires extensive plant knowledge, provides equipment solutions using sound maintenance principles and requires the ability to work with and develop other maintenance crew team members: Follow safe working practices in accordance with the workplace health and safety act and workplace rules; Play an active role in the identification and elimination of hazards in the workplace; Exercises trade skills relevant to the specific requirements of the work place; Carry out such duties and use such tools and equipment as are within the limits of your skill, competence and training; Continually monitor and review your own work performance; Understand and implement maintenance quality control techniques; Liaise with team members and Maintenance Supervisor to establish and maintain work commitments and priorities; Communicate with maintenance team members, supervisors and production staff on breakdowns and outstanding work; Exercises discretion within the scope of the trade; Identify and propose equipment improvement opportunities; Liaise with the Maintenance Supervisor in regard to the purchase of parts and materials to satisfy your work requirements; Play an active role with inspections of equipment undergoing rebuild or repair; To be able to refer to plant and equipment documentation to gain a higher level of understanding of the plant equipment.
