Capgemini Engineering are looking to recruit a number of mechanical design engineers. As a Mechanical design engineer with experience within the space industry, you will be fundamental to our ability to deliver to the customer and client. Our customer expectations are high; as such we are looking for adaptive driven people to deliver on time to the required quality.
As a Mechanical design engineer, you will initially be required to work on-site at the clients office in Stevenage. Thereafter you will have opportunities to work remotely, hybrid and full-time on site for future projects. You will be working with the latest tools, 3DEXPERIENCE and in-house client tools that have been developed to provide a range of exciting technical solutions.
Your Role
You will be a mechanical design engineer working on very high profile projects. You will use creative problem-solving skills work in a team environment and be comfortable communicating clearly and efficiently throughout varying levels of both the customer and Capgemini Engineering businesses.
Other key responsibilities include:
- 3D modelling and 2D drafting using CAD packages
- Applying manufacturing and quality specifications and assigning notes
- Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team
- Liaising with design team and proposing new concepts and improvements
- Work within a team; that collectively are responsible for end-to-end spacecraft structure sub-system throughout the design.
- Establish technical definition of the spacecraft structure sub-system or component as part of the overall system.
- Establish interfacing components and sub-assemblies.
- Continuously monitor progress, ensure timely resolution of technical issues for the sub-system, component.
- Use standard product development processes for the sub-system, component to meet the overall program needs.
- Create 3D models, drawings and documents for satellite integration.
- Support throughout the life cycle of the project.
- Producing reports and presentations to document work.
- Export control awareness.
- Ensuring compliance with the Capgemini QMS in the delivery of projects by the team
Your Profile
- A strong engineering background and/or relevant engineering degree
- Knowledge of spacecraft environment and space structures, tools and materials to deliver structural concept and ultimately design verification.
- 3D modelling and 2D drafting experience
- Good experience with 3DX or Catia V5 would be considered.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, Including GD&T.
- Producing interface control documents.
- Detail / assembly engineering drawing appreciation (Frontier, assembly, Component part drawings).
- Proactive attitude and ability to communicate and report with a good level of verbal and written English
- Ability to work well in a team and individually
- Ability to work quickly and accurately to follow client needs
- Excellent communication skills with a good level of verbal and written English.
