G. W. Becker, Inc. is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who will be responsible for designing and specifying mechanical components related to electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists. Please note this position is full-time and in-person.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & specification of mechanical components related to electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists
- Mechanical calculations in accordance with GWBI Design Standards
- Generate layouts to determine configuration, components & to ensure compliance with all applicable design & safety standards
- Create approval drawings, detailed fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Create bills of material and maintenance manuals
- Manage projects from start to completion
- Interaction with customers
- Assist sales with equipment specification and sizing
- Equipment troubleshooting
- Manufacturing support
- Occasional site visits to perform data collections or inspections
- Knowledge of CMAA, AISC, AIST and AWS
Competencies
- Familiarity with engineering bill of materials
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, models and specific material
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented personality, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
- Knowledge of various design calculations: gear design, finite element analysis, statics and strength of materials
- Knowledge of material properties
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 year Associates Degree or Technical certification (with related work experience), Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is
- Successful completion of the FE exam
- 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience required (or equivalent combination of education and related experience)
- Basic PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
