JOB- Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION- Worthing

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £40,000 to £55,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Premier Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established company in Worthing, specializing in the design and manufacture of enclosures. This role will involve designing bespoke and standard enclosures for a range of industries, ensuring they meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in mechanical design, ideally with enclosures, sheet metal, or precision engineering
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
• Knowledge of materials, sheet metal fabrication, and manufacturing processes
• Experience with designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills for liaising with suppliers and customers

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

• Designing and developing mechanical enclosures for various applications
• Producing 3D models, technical drawings, and BOMs for production
• Optimizing designs for cost-effective manufacturing and assembly
• Conducting design analysis, prototyping, and validation testing
• Working closely with production and engineering teams to ensure smooth project delivery
• Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
• Supporting new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
• Liaising with customers to understand their technical requirements
