Mechanical Design Engineer
Appleton, WI - Full Time
Productive Resources(www.productiveresources.com)is seeking acandidateto be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Appleton, WI. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a Mechanical Design Engineer who designs functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components. Perform engineering analysis and design or re-design, and development of components into existing and new vehicles.
Duties:
- Perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
- Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
- Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
- Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
- Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards.
- Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
- Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
- Perform and Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
- Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
- Provide non-complex technical assistance for production support.
- Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.
- Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
- Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.
Requirements:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field along with experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.
- Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.
- Design experience in SolidWorks- most of the work will be done in CATIA/Windchill, must be able to work in face paced environments as deadlines for this role can be grueling.
- Familiarity with general sheet metal design as all work done in this assignment will be sheet metal design.
