Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Special Purpose Machinery

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for automation and bespoke machinery?

We’re working with a leading engineering company based near Bedford that designs and manufactures innovative special purpose machinery and automation equipment. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to their dynamic team.



The Role:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the full product development lifecycle – from initial concept and design through to detailed engineering and manufacturing support. You’ll be working on a wide range of custom automation systems, designed to meet unique customer requirements.



Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop special purpose machinery using 3D CAD

Produce detailed engineering drawings and BOMs



*



Liaise with other departments including electrical, software, and manufacturing teams



*



Provide design input during prototyping, testing, and installation stages



*



Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards



About You:



*



Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, ideally within special purpose machinery, automation, or a related industry



*



Proficient in 3D CAD software



*



Strong understanding of mechanical principles, manufacturing processes, and materials



*



Able to work independently and within a collaborative engineering team



*



Based locally to Bedford or willing to commute
