Position Summary: The Mechanical Designer will contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems and components. This role involves collaborating with engineers and other team members to create effective and efficient designs that meet project specifications.
Essential Functions
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
- Conduct analysis and simulations to validate designs and ensure functionality and performance.
- Review and modify designs based on feedback and testing results.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues during the manufacturing process.
- Support project management efforts by tracking design progress and meeting deadlines.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance design processes.

Competencies
- Proficiency in SolidWorks; familiarity with AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials.

Work environment: CMD is located in Appleton, WI. Our three facilities operate by secure entry, are well lit, air temperature controlled for comfort, and clean with low noise. Physical Demands
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
- Capacity to use standard office equipment such as computer, telephone, and videoconferencing.
- Ability to navigate manufacturing floor environment, which may include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
- Capacity to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, and hard hat as needed.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to moderate levels of noise, vibration, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to move between different areas of the facility including production floor, warehouse, and administrative offices.
- Ability to follow health and safety guidelines and protocols including emergency procedures.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in mechanical design.
- Five+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Equivalent combination of training and experience.
