Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) Construction Inspector

Job DescriptionJob Description

SCOPE: Primarily involving the inspection of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm / protection building systems. Also, some minor concrete, structural, architectural, and environmental work.
REQUIREMENTS
• Experience in all types of mechanical construction including but not limited to mechanical equipment upgrades and rehabilitation, piping installation/replacement/upgrades, building management systems, HVAC and BMS installation and controls, fire alarm systems, security systems pump systems and electrical systems.
• Experience in the management of various types of contracting methods including lump sum, unit price and net cost.
• A strong working knowledge of the NYC Building Code, and all other associated jurisdictional codes governing work in the City of New York.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to read plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work.
• Prepare related sketches and documentation.
• Knowledgeable in contract administration techniques to expedite contract work. Proficiency with Ebuilder, or other similar submittal management platforms.
• Although normal working hours will be 0700 to 1530, availability to work night and weekend shifts.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or University is desirable.
• Minimum 5 years experience inspecting construction work on projects within the value range of $500K to $100 million).
• A valid Driver’s License is required.
• An OSHA 30-hour certification is required.
• Proficiency in the use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Passing a SWAC Background Check at High Level.
