Mechanical Engineer
St. Charles, IL
Aegis is currently partnered with a leading local manufacturer in search of an experienced Mechanical Engineer. This Engineer will be involved in the customization and design of all new and existing product orders from customers. They will be generally juggling several different equipment projects at one time, but primarily focused on the actual design activities that go along with an Engineering position (this is not a project management role). The products that they make are highly customized, so someone that comes from a Machine Design background or minimum, a background where they’ve designed industrial products would be ideal.
Must Haves:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
· 2-4 years of experience – we could send candidates that are higher in experience but he really wants us shifting the search to someone more junior.
· Someone who is technically curious – We really want someone who learns the why behind what they are doing and how they make engineering decisions.
Nice to Have:
· Engineers Engineer – this is more important than the industry or types of products they design. We want Engineers that have mechanical hobbies, work on cars, etc. Formula SAE is a student design competition that Engineers will do in college that has them design racecars and be hands-on. That type of background would be excellent or other examples of working hands-on.
o Looking for someone that is taking the initiative technically to learn new things and evolve.
· Machine Design – if not industrial equipment, the next best would be some type of electro-mechanical or mechanical products that have an industrial application. Pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.
o Analysis and design of steel structures or weldments would also be a plus.
· Knowledge of metal fabrication, machining, and welding environments. They have all of these in their parts so the Engineers are designing parts & assemblies for these operations.
· Solidworks experience would be a nice to have but they can train this. Would be ancillary.
