Our business activities include both development and ongoing supply of mechanical products ranging from simple hardware to dynamic assemblies made by various manufacturing processes.   Much of our manufacturing is outsourced, so engineers frequently communicate and coordinate with domestic and offshore suppliers.  Product examples range from special pipe hangers, connectors and tube clamps to outdoor fire pits and accessories. Materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass and polymers.

We are hiring for the position of Product Engineer. The successful candidate will perform various engineering and related functions in product development, product specification, manufacturing, importing and quality assurance. Focus is on developing, launching and supporting new products.  In addition, the Product Engineer will likely assist with onshoring some manufacturing operations.  This person will also support sales and technology integration and will have opportunities for career advancement.  We work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with abundant opportunity to contribute to many aspects of growth and profitability. Typical Responsibilities:

• Develop products from inception to launch, including ideation, concept development, detail design, design reviews, manufacturing/import planning, gaging design, quality planning, and launch.
• Develop and manage product specifications.
• Use SolidWorks and other software for 3D design, analysis and 2D drawing creation.
• Interact with subcontract factories as needed.
• Validate product designs and methods through inspection and testing, including selection and development of test equipment and quality plans.
• Support operations and continually improve designs, production, importing and business processes.
• Provide engineering support for manufacturing operations as needed.
• Provide product technical support to salespeople and customers, including showing of products at multiple trade shows.
• Contribute to technology upgrades and integration across business functions.
• Various other assignments that may arise to facilitate business efficiency and growth.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum one year experience in an engineering role, preferably with product responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and interest.
• Good interpersonal skills and team attitude.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drawing, preferably SolidWorks.
• Some proficiency in proper design, dimensioning and tolerancing, based on understanding design intent and manufacturing operation capabilities.
• Experience related to at least one of the areas of metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, precision machining, piping assemblies, process piping, gas fire appliances, or filter technology.
• Desirable: Skills, experience or exposure in any areas of IT, ERP systems use, website development, database design, networks, online sales, social networking and/or related activities.
• Ability to travel occasionally, both domestically and abroad.
