This exciting new role provides resolution to difficult design or construction issues and provide design expertise to determine specific requirements and design needs. In this position you will be in contact with DoD engineering and architectural personnel to give or receive information, to coordinate work efforts, to furnish technical advice, to review drawings, designs, or specifications and to correct and improve as necessary.
Pay range - GS-13
Responsibilities:
- Mechanical design and evaluation including final detailed working drawings comparative cost analyst, RFPs, and project specifications for a wide variety of facility types including but not limited to housing, clubs, maintenance shops, dining facilities, administrative building, hangars, and medical facilities.
- Design and evaluation of HVAC systems, POLs, Specialty control systems, Energy conservation and sustainable designs, and perform facility acceptance testing and commissioning.
- Developing complex designs and analyses utilizing advance mechanical engineering software
- Provide post construction aware services including review and approval of Contractor submittals, and providing technical responses to RFI requests.
- Mechanical engineer community support to other mechanical engineers
Experience and Education:
- Must be a US
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, supplemented by a considerable amount of hands-on design experience.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer
- 5-10 years experience in relevant field
- In depth knowledge of DOD and Navy guide specifications, criteria and policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices as related to mechanical engineering design.
Other Job Requirements and Position Information:
- Occasional overtime is required but not guaranteed
- Willingness to complete training required by the CI Community Management Plan and the incumbent's Individual Development Plan (IDP).
- Ability to achieve Level III certification in the Facilities Engineering Career Field and meet the subsequent requirements for Continuous Learning Points (CLPs).
- Eligible for telework.
- Annual completion of a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450)
