Responsibilities

·      Design and develop plastic components for electronic enclosures and assemblies, optimized for injection molding.

·      Collaborate with electrical and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of electronic components into mechanical designs.

·      Select appropriate plastics and materials based on mechanical, thermal, and environmental requirements.

·      Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) analyses to optimize tooling and production.

·      Work closely with suppliers, mold makers, and manufacturing teams to validate designs and troubleshoot production issues.

·      Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and thermal analysis to ensure mechanical integrity.

·      Create and maintain detailed CAD models, drawings, and documentation using industry-standard tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or NX).

·      Participate in prototype development and testing to validate design performance and reliability.

·      Stay up to date with industry trends, materials, and best practices in plastic part design and electronic packaging.

·      Create and manage drawings for manufacturing inspection, assembly, CMF documentation.

·      Rapidly design and fabricate test fixtures for electronics testing and burn in procedures.

·      Rapid prototyping of electronics enclosures and mechanical assemblies using CNC, 3D printing and hand tools.

·      Support marketing and documentation through line drawings, renderings, and graphical design.

Skills and Qualifications

·      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

·      3+ years of experience in plastic part design, electronic packaging, or injection molding processes.

·      Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.

·      Proficiency in CAM software such as Fusion 360

·      Proficiency in rendering software such as Keyshot 3D or equivalent

·      Experience with DFM/DFA, mold flow analysis, and material selection for plastic parts.

·      Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and secondary operations related to injection molding.

·      Strong creative and analytical problem-solving skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.

·      Excellent communication, documentation, and time management skills.
