Job DescriptionJob DescriptionHumCap's client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of innovative consumer and commercial products. This role requires a creative problem-solver with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering high-quality, manufacturable designs. This position will play a key role in product development, from concept to production, collaborating across teams to ensure engineering excellence.Essential Functions
- Apply knowledge of conventional and computer-aided design (CAD) techniques, manufacturing processes, and materials to develop high-quality mechanical components.
- Execute detailed mechanical design tasks with precision, ensuring manufacturability and durability.
- Develop and refine component layouts, assemblies, and full system designs.
- Conduct testing, analyze results, and compile comprehensive reports to validate design performance.
- Plan and execute project tasks strategically, meeting objectives and deadlines efficiently.
- Assist in product and process certification for customer acceptance and compliance.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other associates to ensure designs meet all project and product standards.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure compliance with product and project requirements.
- Identify opportunities for technical improvements by leveraging advanced mechanical engineering principles.
- Independently contribute to smaller projects, driving innovation and efficiency in mechanical design.
- Support problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts in product development.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and industry standards.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in product design, with expertise in 3D CAD modeling and layout (SolidWorks ).
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong background in designing consumer or commercial products with an emphasis on aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability.
- Experience designing parts for plastic injection molding and various metal fabrication processes, including casting, sheet metal forming, and machining.
- Proven ability to develop functional, high-quality, and visually appealing designs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams, working with engineers of various disciplines, as well as marketing, manufacturing, and leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
- Experience contributing to projects, meeting deadlines, and driving designs from concept to production.
- Experience with performing FEA as needed to meet design and functional requirements
- Knowledge of standard laboratory test methods for mechanical functional parameters .
Work Environment
- Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation and moderate noise
- May work with or near moving mechanical equipment
