This position Can be located at the Bayou La Batre, AL facility or the Elmwood, LA engineering offices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the engineering team in the design, development, and modification of vessels, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Oversee multiple projects, from concept to delivery, ensuring technical and operational requirements are met.
  • Establish engineering best practices, methodologies, and processes to enhance efficiency and innovation.
  • Work closely with naval architects, structural engineers, and other specialists to resolve complex engineering challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with classification societies (e.g., ABS, Lloyd’s Register), USCG, IMO, and other maritime regulations.
  • Approve engineering designs, calculations, and technical documentation before submission to clients or regulatory bodies.
  • Review and enhance shipbuilding processes, materials, and technologies to improve performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring professional development and training in cutting-edge technologies.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to drive engineering excellence.
  • Allocate resources effectively and ensure engineering milestones are met.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, and quality control teams to ensure seamless execution of shipbuilding projects.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and external stakeholders to align engineering solutions with project requirements.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making to support the company’s long-term goals.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in shipbuilding or marine engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of ship design, construction methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, ShipConstructor) and other engineering tools.
  • Knowledge of shipyard operations, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with government and commercial shipbuilding contracts is a plus.
