Total Number of Openings1About the position:The Mechanical Engineer is part of the Materials Equipment Quality (MEQ) team at the Chevron ENGINE and is responsible for providing expertise in areas of pressure vessel & piping mechanical design/repair/alteration, code interpretation, and post construction repair across Chevron assets.Key responsibilities:Provides enterprise-wide support of in-service pressure vessels and piping, new construction project support, and maintains Chevron’s technical standardsAssist with concept development, work scoping, troubleshooting, failure analysis and repairs.Support research and technology development projects,Perform mechanical design analysis, using finite element analysis (FEA), of fixed equipment components in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping.Determine stresses applied to components are within allowable stress limits and determine max strain/deflections are also within allowable limitsApply fracture mechanics, fatigue, buckling, creep, and mechanical design principles to evaluate components in mechanical equipment are within allowable stress rangeSelect post construction repair options for mechanical equipment (sleeves, patches, weld repairs, etc) and validate the design meets ASME code requirementReview supplier pressure vessel design packagesRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized (AICTE) University.Proven experience with ASME Sec VIII Division 1 and 2, PCC-2Proven experience performing finite element analysis (FEA)Skilled use of an FEA software package such as SolidWorks, Ansys, or AbaqusSkilled use of a pressure vessel design software package such as Compress or PVPreferred Qualifications:10+ years of experience in pressure vessel or mechanical design in the oil & gas industryAdvanced degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters or Doctorate)Oil & gas or petrochemical experience, or experience working with a pressure vessel fabricatorChevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.Chevron participates in E-Verify in certain locations as required by law.
