Mechanical Engineering Supervisor

THE ROLE



An opportunity has arisen for the role of Mechanical Engineering Supervisor - Rolled Process, reporting to the Site Engineering Manager.



This is to cover sickness within the existing team and is likely to be for 6 months in the first instance.



The purpose of the role is to ensure the safe operation and availability of plant and equipment on the Rolled Glass line, including any associated building and civil infrastructure as well as process services. You'll ensure that maintenance resources are deployed effectively to deliver budgets in terms of safety performance, plant uptime, maintenance costs, and defined maintenance and operational targets. In addition, you'll coordinate the installation, implementation and training for new plant and equipment ensuring that any new equipment is established within the site systems: Maintenance Regimes, MRO Spares, Risk Assessments, SOPs etc.



You'll be responsible for all maintenance activities, machine availability levels, compliance testing and certification necessary to optimise performance, as well as commissioning or decommissioning of plant and equipment as required. As a member of the wider Engineering Management team, you may be called on to support in other areas of the site and you'll be responsible for supervising Team Leaders, Technicians and Apprentices, for whom you'll provide technical support and training.



WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?



You must be able to work co-operatively as part of a team and be prepared to work flexibly in order to respond to changing demands. Knowledge and understanding of the Rolled Process operation would be advantageous. You'll be required to participate in an On-Call system outside of normal hours, providing continuous Engineering support. During the On-call period, you may also be required to act as Services Officer for any Major Incidents.
