As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, R&D at Lexington Medical, you will support product development through assembly, testing, and evaluation of surgical staplers. This role involves executing test protocols, documenting results, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble intricate production- and experimental-stage device configurations.
  • Execute comprehensive testing protocols and conduct evaluation of products in support of product development, qualification, and design verification with little to moderate oversight.
  • Thoroughly document results and clearly communicate testing conclusions and anomalies to the Engineering team.
  • Maintain organization of R&D pilot build areas and accurately document interactions with a complex inventory system.
  • Evaluate test procedures to identify inefficiencies and improve test reliability and reproducibility.
  • Seek clarification and actively engage in discussions to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Production, Warehouse/Receiving, and Quality.
  • Ensure the highest possible product quality and adherence to the Lexington Medical quality system.
  • Assist with production operations during periods of low R&D activity.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to manipulate small hand tools and assemble small mechanical components.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 2+ years of relevant experience, or relevant vocational technical school diploma / associate's degree.
  • Proficiency with lab test equipment, including calipers, dial & gauge indicators, tensile/compression test systems, and optical metrology systems .
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to organize work and judge priorities in accordance with direction from multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction and reliably report findings.
  • Proficiency in office software, including Word and Excel.
