Mechanical Estimator
Holmberg Mechanical seeks a Mechanical Estimator, to be stationed out of our headquarters in Bellevue, WA. Hybrid options may be available for the right candidate(s). The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for the efforts of independently gathering, calculating, and compiling data to produce HVAC &/or Plumbing/Piping estimates for multiple projects, as well as working with the estimating team for large projects. The Mechanical Estimator will, at times, take the lead for larger estimates, and will report directly to the Estimating Department Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine the scope of work required.
2. Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, and equipment costs, using QuoteSoft software.
3. Prepare accurate cost budgets for projects given little information, utilizing metrics based on past projects.
4. Conduct pre-bid site visits when necessary to gather necessary information.
5. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to understand project requirements and ensure accurate cost projections.
6. Research and solicit material and equipment quotes, to ensure cost-effective, complete, and responsible quotes.
7. Review and evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals to select the most suitable and responsible partners for projects.
8. Meet deadlines by preparing comprehensive and professional estimates, including detailed breakdowns of costs and installation timelines related to the project schedule.
9. Identify potential risks or issues that may impact project cost or timeline, showcasing our proactive problem-solving approach. Provide proposal scope input to help qualify our proposals and mitigate risks identified.
10. Collaborate with the estimating team, Account Executives, and management to develop estimates and proposals.
11. Update and maintain a QuoteSoft database of current and historical cost data to support accurate estimating and future reference, aligning with our focus on data-driven decision-making.
12. Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to plumbing & piping estimating, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.
13. Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution and cost control, fostering strong relationships and effective teamwork.
Requirements:
1. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and specifications.
2. Proven experience as an HVAC, Plumbing, & Piping Estimator or similar role in the construction industry.
3. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
4. Strong Excel, Word, Outlook, & Teams skills. Excel formula understanding is a must.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders and build relationships.
6. Proficiency in using QuoteSoft or other on-screen takeoff software for cost estimating.
7. Familiarity with Revit or 3D estimating background is welcomed, aligning with our focus on leveraging advanced technologies.
8. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing & piping systems, codes, regulations, and industry standards.
9. Knowledge of different HVAC, plumbing, & piping materials, equipment, and their costs.
10. Familiarity with project management principles.
11. Ability to meet deadlines in a demanding, results-oriented environment. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
12. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to resolve estimation challenges in line with our company's strategic goals.
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, embodying our values of collaboration and teamwork.
14. Must have a minimum of 5 years of mechanical industry experience, and a Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (), emphasizing our commitment to professionalism and expertise.
