The Company:

An exciting opportunity for a Mechanically biased Estimator to join a tier 1 contractor on both AMP 7 & 8 water frameworks across the UK.



Key Responsibilities



* Estimating: Join the project team, taking charge of preparing the mechanical estimate.



* Scope Preparation: Develop detailed scopes from drawings, specifications, and Project Control Documents (PCD).



* Error Identification: Spot and address any errors or omissions in the scope within the PCD.



* Material Sourcing: Prepare abstracts of material and subcontract requirements for sourcing and pricing.



* Quotation Appraisal: Conduct technical and commercial appraisals of material and subcontractor quotations to ensure comprehensive coverage of the scope.



* Analytical Estimates: Develop detailed analytical estimates, particularly for Mechanical (& ideally Electrical) packages.



* Risk Identification: Contribute to identifying and pricing risks throughout the bid process.



* Site Visits: Attend site visits as needed during the tender period.



* Tender Book Preparation: Help prepare the M&E “Tender Book” to collate and present the mechanical estimate.



* Top-Down Estimate: Create top-down estimates using agreed schedules of rates and cost curves for benchmarking during the review process.



About You



* Education: Degree level qualification or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Chartered status ).



* Experience: Minimum of 3 years working as a Mechanical Estimator for a major mechanical/electrical contractor in the water sector.



* Project Experience: Experienced in pricing medium to large value mechanical (& ideally electrical) engineering projects. Prior experience in wastewater/sewerage treatment and process engineering is essential; clean water experience is a plus.



* Technical Skills: Familiar with the Civil Engineering Method of Measurement. Must have a strong technical understanding of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering and the ability to promote alternative solutions.



* Communication: Excellent communication skills and a positive, “can-do” approach.



* Commercial Awareness: Must be commercially aware and a lateral thinker with knowledge of various Forms of Contract.



* Software Knowledge: Familiarity with the CCS ‘Candy’ Estimating system is advantageous (training will be provided).



* Other Requirements: Full driving license. Customer-focused, open and honest, environmentally aware, team player, and accountable.
