Mechanical Plant Fitter | £24 per hour (depending on experience)\n\nOverview:\n\nOur client is responsible for the servicing, installation and upgrading a variety of plant equipment across the south coast. Most of the work sits within a triangle from Dorset in the west, London and along towards southern Kent in the east.\n\nThe projects range in size and scope from a few days onsite to several months. The list of current contracts is vast including several with budgets into the millions, there are also dozens of others expected to come online within the next few months.

The business we’re working in partnership with have recruited several new employees in recent months and boast an exceptional retention rate.\n\nThis Mechanical Plant Fitter role offers variety daily and that will test your skills hourly. You’ve possibly learnt all you can within your current position and are now looking for a business who can offer progression within a stable environment. The position will involve working on lots of one-off projects where you’ll get exposure to mechanical systems as well as lots of pumps, generators, and general fabrication.

Successful candidates haven’t been a master of all trades but at least a master of one! Typically, from either a heavy plant fitting or metalworking background.\n\nOwing to the variety of different sites that you’ll be servicing you’ll be expected to travel and stay away if the project is further afield.\n\nEmployer/Package\n\nThis Mechanical Plant Fitter position is working for an established engineering company that provide high-quality, bespoke, and tailored solutions that meet the ever-evolving demands of the industry. The successful Mechanical Plant Fitter will benefit from:\n\nWorking day shifts Monday – Friday 07.00 - 16.00 \nWell-equipped shopfloor\nFriendly work environment\nLife Insurance \nRecognition Scheme \nContinuous Training \nHighly competitive rates\nOvertime paid at a premium\nOvernight bonuses when working away\nExcellent opportunities for progression and personal development\nResponsibilities\n\nAs a Mechanical Plant Fitter, some of your responsibilities will include:\n\nWorking across the south coast at various sites\nInstalling new equipment, often in challenging environments\nTesting and commission post installation\nRefurbishment and upgrading of older systems\nFabricating bespoke parts on demand (welding / sheet metal work / machining)\nOften working outside no matter what the weather (full kit provided)\nOperating hand, power tools & heavy equipment\nPreparing and finishing components\nEnsuring that your workspace is maintained\nChecking that the quality of your work is to the standard expected\nWorking from drawings and job specifications on each job\nPlanning travel\nLiaising with both HQ and the customer when onsite\nCompleting paperwork as required\nBackground\n\nOwing to the variety of skills involved in this position we’d be keen to hear from applicants with prior experience with:\n\nManual machining\nWelding and Fabrication\nPlant maintenance / fitting\nUtilities fitter\nYou must be skilled in one of the above to be considered.\n\nAs a successful Mechanical Plant Fitter, you’ll likely be from:\n\nA mechanical fitting role, possible on heavy plant or agricultural equipment\nUtilities background – sewerage, water or gas\nEngineering workshop – welding & fabricating or heaving machining\nPossibly used a MIG welder to either tack or weld thick plate steel\nThere will be some tickets required for the role, although for the right applicant training will be provided:\n\nCSCS Card \nIPAF is desirable but not essential \nPASMA is desirable but not essential\nCOSHH Awareness \nInterested?\n\nAs this role has so much to offer, both with regards to variety the package, we’re expecting a large number of applications.
