Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - OPP
What you need to know about the role
As a British Steel Maintenance Engineer within our Ore Preparation Plant here at the Scunthorpe site, you'll be involved in the development, testing, improvement and maintenance of complex manufacturing processes and infrastructure.
You’ll be expected to preside over the overall mechanical and structural maintenance operations for your plant area, Lead, support and mentor the maintenance team, manage relationships and orders with multiple vendors for both services and goods. Review and manage stocks of critical equipment spares. Ensure the processes, systems, equipment and people are maintained and developed effectively and efficiently to meet the Plant requirements with a focus on safety, manufacturing, cost, quality and Continuous Improvement.
The OPP includes a diverse set of machinery, equipment and infrastructure including Turbine Impellors & Fans, Gases & pipework, Ignition Furnaces, Windmains, Sinter machines, Pressure Vessels, Impact Dryers, Material Samplers, Stackers, Reclaimers, precipitators, material screens, unloaders, Conveyor Belts, static & mobile plant machinery. Experience with these types of assets and heavy industry is desirable.
What we need to know about you
We’re looking for someone with excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills. Combining your technical and engineering knowledge, you'll know how to collaborate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Qualified to HNC/Degree level or equivalent in a mechanical discipline with demonstrable experience in a similar mechanical biased role, you will need to be someone who works well in a fast, high paced, customer focused environment.
You will assist and coordinate the Scope of Works to be carried out during Shutdowns and implement in conjunction with the Maintenance Engineers team. You will be required to monitor and report in line with modern maintenance principles.
