Mechanical Project Engineer\nCambridge\nContract/Permanent\n\n1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team on a commercial project in Cambridge.\n\nResponsibilities:\n- Attend & host team meetings.\n- Lead and issue meeting notes for technical and progress workshop meetings.\n- Reviewing tender information including design drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.\n- Delivering the design / working drawings necessary to deliver the project and ensure you capture any additional costs and programme delays caused by external influences on their production.\n- Production and technical compliance checking of technical submissions against specifications and ER documents.\n- Production of package scoping documents.\n- Reviewing and compliance checking our working drawings against specifications and ER documents.\n- Being able to develop a commissioning strategy for the installation.\n- Management of procurement. Value engineering (where asked for) and better buying against the tender allowances.\n- Programming of the works and sub-contract packages.\n- Production and management of programmes.\n- Project reporting to PM.\n- Manage installation and commissioning activities of your assigned packages.\n- Handover documentation (record drawings / test and commission).\n- Ensure all variation costs are advised to the PM and QS.\n- Cost control. Liaising with project surveyor to assist the PM with the monthly PFR report.\n- Quality control.\n- Risk control (programme and commercial)\n\nQualifications/Skills:\n- HNC/HNC in Building Services Engineering or similar.\n- CSCS/IOSH/SMSTS.\n- Experience of working at a senior level on M&E commercial projects, as well as ideally having had responsibility for full contract management.\n- Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.\n- Good computer skills especially with Microsoft Office.\n- Be aware of health and safety requirements and the continual assessment/control of risk.\n- To actively contribute to the team (internal and client team)
