Our Passion. Our Approach. Responsibilities:Develop an understanding of the specific mechanical engineering requirements per projectStudy and become familiar with the elementary system drawingsConveyor manifestsKnowledgeable of equipmentEngineering hours estimateProject contract requirements and optionsProvide technical interface with customer’s project representative(s)Project scope definitions3D model reviewsSystem level reviewsEquipment and/or installation issuesContract and execute mechanical change ordersCustomer specifications / standardsFlow rate improvementsMentor and navigate issues with less experienced Project EngineersPriorities, organization, and time managementMechanical lessons learnedMechanical equipment and installationConstructabilityField issuesSystem level designChange OrdersDevelop, maintain, and assist with creating a mechanical engineering schedule that provides timely delivery of material to fully support an installation schedule.Thorough grasp of project contract documents including clarifications and exceptions. Execute the project within the budget and hours in the contract estimate.Provide extensive technical support for Project Engineers, vendors, field installation personnel, and engineering sub-contractors as related to inquiriesHost weekly meetings with project team members and customersDelegate and monitor tasks given to project engineers and other engineering team members on regular cadenceAssist Procurement with ordering long lead itemsMaintain project-specific requirements while applying general knowledge of conveying systems, conveying equipment and customer general specifications and standardsHelp Project Engineers interpret and ensure compliance to customer specifications.Communicate project specific information with other departmentsRelease drawings for installation and fabricationCreate material purchase requestsRelate information regarding changes to scope of work for the project as they occurCommunicate status updates to engineering management on a regular cadenceBe cognoscente of areas for professional development, cost reduction, quality improvements and enhanced customer service.Check drawings provided by mechanical designers for accuracy and provide feedback for corrections as needed.Perform or assist in directing engineering analysis as determined by project needsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Efficient in a schedule driven environmentRead, understand, and apply customer specificationsCommunicate proficiently to customers, vendors, co-workers, and managementGood interpersonal skillsAbove average mentorship and teaching skillsExcellent time management skillsProvide technical support for vendors, field installation personnel, and engineering subcontractors as related to inquiriesGood industry knowledgeGood knowledge of material handling equipment and operationsAbility to multi-task and work on multiple projects and process improvements at onceEffectively lead and mentor a project team of up to 10 project engineers and designersEstimate mechanical hours and support with change ordersExperience with Microsoft Office, such as Outlook and Excel are requiredFamiliar with AutoCAD and Inventor, Navisworks, and BIM is a plusExperience with Microsoft Project is a plusEducation and Experience:Six to ten years of material handling equipment experience preferably within the conveyor systems industryExperience with executing and supporting multiple mid to large projectsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering and designTravel Requirements:Some international travel required +/- 15%. Depends on project needs and urgency.
