NES Fircroft is actively seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a full-time long-term contract role with our client, a Major Midstream Oil & Gas Pipeline and Terminal operation based in Allentown, Pennsylvania!  This position could also potentially sit out of Houston, TX.  

Our client is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a Project Management position with their Capital Projects team, ideally this candidate will sit in their Allentown, PA offices but could also be open to candidates based in the Houston, TX region.  Candidates coming from a midstream Oil/Gas background are strongly preferred for our client in this capacity.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Mechanical Project Manager to join our client, a reputable Midstream Oil & Gas Pipeline and Terminal organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a proven track record in managing mechanical projects within the midstream or terminal sector of the oil & gas industry. This position will play a key role in overseeing the planning, design, and execution of mechanical projects related to pipeline and terminal infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of mechanical projects for pipeline and terminal systems, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Oversee project teams, including engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders, to ensure effective coordination and successful project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans while monitoring and managing project progress.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure they meet technical and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges, improve project performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage and mitigate project risks, including potential delays, cost overruns, and design issues.
  • Prepare and present regular project updates to senior management, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Maintain effective communication with vendors, contractors, and clients throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry, with specific expertise in midstream operations and terminal infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in managing mechanical projects in the pipeline or terminal sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including equipment design, construction, and maintenance in an oil & gas context.
  • Experience with project management methodologies, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • In-depth understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI, NFPA).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management software and engineering design tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality assurance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License or PMP Certification.
  • Experience working with large-scale, multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of pipeline inspection, maintenance, and integrity management.
