About the Company:
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a well-established and highly respected Mechanical and Electrical Building Services contractor, known for delivering high-quality M&E solutions across a wide range of sectors.
Operating for decades with a solid reputation, they specialise in commercial, office fit-out, banking, education, healthcare, retail, leisure, and increasingly, data centres.
Project values typically range from £100k to £5m, and due to consistent growth and a strong project pipeline, they are now seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their expanding Data Centre team based in Hemel Hempstead.
Previous data centre experience is advantageous but not essential.
The Role:
As the Mechanical Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of mechanical packages on high-value data centre projects. You’ll manage the project lifecycle from planning and procurement through to installation and commissioning, ensuring smooth delivery to time, cost, and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and lead mechanical packages from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with design, budget, and programme
* Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain strong communication and collaboration
* Develop detailed project plans, resource schedules, and budget forecasts
* Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and uphold health & safety standards
* Oversee procurement and timely delivery of materials and equipment
* Troubleshoot project issues, provide solutions, and report progress to senior management
* Maintain accurate documentation and ensure quality control procedures are followed
Mechanical Project Manager - Desirable experience and skills:
* Experienced Mechanical Project Manager, or similar (e.g. Mechanical Contracts Manager, M&E Project Manager, MPE Contracts Manager)
* Experience in data centres is beneficial, but not essential
* Strong leadership, commercial, and communication skills
* Ability to manage fast-paced, high-value construction environments.
* Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management
