Mechanical Structural Engineer - Hydropower - Norway

We are seeking a Mechanical Structural Engineer with experience in hydropower projects for our client in Norway. Our client is a leading pan-Nordic consulting firm with headquarters in Norway, and has close to 140 offices across Scandinavia. They specialize in integrating engineering, architecture and digital expertise to handle projects of all sizes for both private and public clients. Their comprehensive services range from initial advice and feasibility studies to detailed design, environmental assessments, construction management and ongoing operational support for hydropower plants. In addition, their global presence and projects in various sectors underline their expertise in architecture, buildings and real estate, digitization, geosciences and environment, industry, renewable energy, security, society and urban planning, transport and water. Key requirements: Minimum 8 years experience in mechanical engineering. Skills in assessing the condition and strength calculation of hydraulic steel structures, relevant for both new installations and existing equipment. Knowledge of and experience with lifting equipment and various steel structures, as well as knowledge of heavy vehicles. Knowledge of degradation analysis, material assessment and quality evaluation, among other relevant areas. Key Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering required, or relevant fields particularly advantageous. Skills in both English and Norwegian are essential for effective communication with international and local stakeholders. Previous experience in advisory roles within the hydropower industry is an advantage, demonstrating the ability to provide expert judgment and solutions. A strong understanding of business principles and practices in the context of hydropower projects, including budgeting, project management and customer relations. Excellent social and communication skills, essential for collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Customer-focused approach, with documented results of delivering solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations. Location:  Should be located or willing to relocate to Sandvika, Trondheim, Stavanger or Kristiansand. Expected to travel 1 or 2 times per month for a few days.
