Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor (Water Treatment)\n\nLocation: Southampton\n\nAbout Southern Water:\n\nSouthern Water is responsible for providing clean and safe water to millions of customers across the South East of England. We are committed to delivering a high-quality and sustainable water service to our customers.\n\nThe Role:\n\nWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join our team working on a water treatment plant project in Portsmouth for Southern Water. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical installation, maintenance, and quality control on this important infrastructure project.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nMechanical Installation:\n\nOversee the installation and assembly of mechanical systems within the water treatment plant, including pumps, valves, piping, filters, and other related equipment.\nEnsure all installations are carried out according to project specifications, drawings, and industry standards.\nCoordinate with other trades and subcontractors involved in the installation process.Maintenance and Repair:\n\nSupervise the preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical systems, including troubleshooting issues, repairing damaged parts, and ensuring optimal system performance.\nDevelop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.\nEnsure the availability of spare parts and materials for maintenance activities.Quality Control:\n\nEnforce quality control standards throughout the installation and maintenance processes.\nInspect completed work to ensure it meets project specifications and safety requirements.Safety and Compliance:\n\nMaintain a high level of safety awareness and adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.\nEnsure that all work is performed in a safe and compliant manner, complying with relevant industry standards and regulations.\nConduct safety briefings and toolbox talks with the team.\nImplement a strong safety culture on site.Team Management:\n\nSupervise a team of mechanical fitters and technicians, providing guidance and support.

Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the team is properly equipped and trained.\nMaintain clear communication with the team and project stakeholders.Documentation:\n\nMaintain accurate records of work performed, including daily logs, inspection reports, and material usage.\nPrepare progress reports and updates for the project manager. \n\nRequired Qualifications and Experience:\n\nEssential:\n\nValid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)\nMinimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Supervisor in a water treatment or related construction environment.\nProven ability to lead and manage teams in a fast-paced project setting.\nStrong understanding of mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, piping, filters, and other related equipment common in water treatment.\nExcellent knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.\nAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.Desirable:\n\nExperience with specific water treatment technologies (e.g., reverse osmosis, filtration, disinfection).\nFirst Aid certification \n\nBenefits:\n\nCompetitive daily rate of £400 per day.\nOpportunities for potential extension of the contract based on performance.\nWork on a challenging and impactful infrastructure project with a leading construction and infrastructure group.\nStrong safety culture and commitment to employee well-being. \n\nRandstad CPE values and promotes equality.
