Mechanical Testing Engineer

Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Material Science or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3 years minimum experience in mechanical testing (preferably in polymeric materials and/or composites), including supervisory experience.
  • Must be authorized to legally work in the US.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervision and Coordination:
  • Plan and execute multiple projects with different stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Organize outside laboratory testing as needed.
  • Testing Procedures:
  • Perform mechanical testing on polymeric materials and composites such as tensile, flexural, impact and other mechanical testing procedures.
  • Develop and implement testing procedures and protocols.
  • Create and follow sample preparation procedures to help standardize testing.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry ASTM and ISO standards.
  • Conduct Thermal Analysis on polymeric materials and composites.
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Reporting and Communication:
  • Work with customers, tech reps, product leaders, etc. to advise of solutions to problems associated with Mechanical Testing
  • Prepare and present reports on testing activities and results to management.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing activities and results.
  • Write technical reports blending statistical analysis and experimental results to support decision making for internal and external customers as a service.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in testing processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to capital expenditure justifications for lab infrastructure within financial constraints.
  • Implement changes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
