Mechanical Testing Engineer
Requirements:
- BS or MS degree in Material Science or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3 years minimum experience in mechanical testing (preferably in polymeric materials and/or composites), including supervisory experience.
- Must be authorized to legally work in the US.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervision and Coordination:
- Plan and execute multiple projects with different stakeholders simultaneously.
- Organize outside laboratory testing as needed.
- Testing Procedures:
- Perform mechanical testing on polymeric materials and composites such as tensile, flexural, impact and other mechanical testing procedures.
- Develop and implement testing procedures and protocols.
- Create and follow sample preparation procedures to help standardize testing.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry ASTM and ISO standards.
- Conduct Thermal Analysis on polymeric materials and composites.
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Reporting and Communication:
- Work with customers, tech reps, product leaders, etc. to advise of solutions to problems associated with Mechanical Testing
- Prepare and present reports on testing activities and results to management.
- Communicate effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of testing activities and results.
- Write technical reports blending statistical analysis and experimental results to support decision making for internal and external customers as a service.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improvement in testing processes and procedures.
- Contribute to capital expenditure justifications for lab infrastructure within financial constraints.
- Implement changes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
