JOB PURPOSE:
Preform laboratory test in hematology, toxicology, microbiology, immunology, and chemistry. This position is responsible for collecting and processing patient samples and performing clinical laboratory analysis at all complexity levels for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Any position that has direct patient care is considered to be safety sensitive by Avem Health Partners standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Process laboratory specimens and report results in all areas of the clinical laboratory.
- Maintain laboratory records.
- Performs routine and stat laboratory assays.
- Performs qualitative urine analysis; , clarity, specific gravity.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Maintains quality results by running standards and controls; verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced troubleshooting; monitors quality control measures and protocols.
- Operates hematology, urinalysis and coagulation equipment; performing manual methods of differentials.
- Performs technical procedures for the identification or susceptibility of bacteria, parasites, fungi and mycobacteria.
- Ensures patients receive compatible blood/blood components by completing blood typing, antibody screening, compatibility testing and antibody identification procedures.
- Cleans laboratory glassware, sinks, work benches, autoclave and drying oven, using appropriate solvents, brushes and cloths.
- Maintain quality control practices in the laboratory.
- Follow laboratory policies and procedures.
- Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree in Science
- Requires Generalist skill set in: General Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, ABGs, Urine Microbiology, Spot Testing and General Blood Banking
- Must be computer proficient
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
- MLT-ASCP Certification required
- Current BLS (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
