Methods Engineer

Overview:


The Methods Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing methodologies, processes, and tools used in engineering and construction projects, primarily within the oil and gas industry.

This role involves analyzing project needs, establishing work methods, and ensuring that the engineering teams adhere to standardized processes to enhance project efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for various project phases, including design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.

  • Analyze project requirements to create efficient work methods that meet project goals and adhere to industry standards.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that project methods are well-integrated and that best practices are followed.

  • Prepare method statements, work procedures, and technical documentation to guide project execution.

  • Identify potential process improvements and provide recommendations to optimize workflow and reduce project timelines.

  • Conduct risk assessments and provide input on safety measures related to project methods.

  • Provide technical support to project teams, ensuring that method-related queries and issues are promptly addressed.

  • Monitor the implementation of methods on-site, ensuring compliance with established standards and guidelines.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:

  • Proficiency in project management and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Primavera P6, or equivalent.

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies is an advantage.

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in methods engineering within the oil and gas, construction, or related industries.

Technical Knowledge:

  1. Process Optimization: Strong understanding of engineering processes, project workflows, and the ability to develop efficient methods for various project phases.

  2. Technical Documentation: Experience in preparing method statements, risk assessments, and work procedures, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
