MFC Quality Inspection Technician
Job Description
Idaho Laboratory is hiring a Quality Inspection Technician to work in our MFC Quality Control department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials & Fuels Complex facility with every Friday off. You will apply technical knowledge to first line inspections and testing/oversight. Provide Inspector Certification activities to support the INL Inspector Certification Program. Perform Nondestructive Examination (NDE) examinations and technically collaborate across multiple fields including Engineering, Production Control and Maintenance. *NE4-NE5 only. You will report to the manager for the MFC Quality Control Department. Responsibilities Include:
- Prior leak test level II and VT Level II or CWI
- Support other NDE methods as needed (MT, PT, and RT).
- Communicate with engineers and manufacturing personnel to provide test results and support process improvements.
- Perform technical reviews to maintain company level inspection procedures are accurate and correct.
- Perform in-process surveillances of complex wide program work to verify compliance with company quality program procedures.
- Present training and activities for Inspector Certification.
- Pursue personal development of knowledge necessary for effective performance.
- Receive instruction and guidance from a certified Level II or Level III.
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements:
- Level 4: High School or equivalent and 6 years of NDE experience.
- Previous or current LT-2, VT-2, certifications.
- Leak Testing certification should include Mass Spectrometer, Pressure Change, and Bubble Testing experience.
- As applicable, maintain all required job-related exam and position qualifications.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Ideal Candidate will have:
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in NDT, or closely related curriculum with an NDT Certificate of Completion.
- Knowledge of NDE (MT, PT, VT, and ET).
- Sufficient technical knowledge to be qualified to properly perform specific standardizations, specific standardizations, specific NDT, and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection according to written instructions.
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is $39.58 min - $67.28 max (overtime as needed at 1.5x hourly rate). At Idaho Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
