Position Overview:
The Mid-Level Estimator is responsible for accurately assessing roofing project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and collaborating with project managers and vendors to ensure competitive and profitable bids. This role requires a solid understanding of roofing systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate blueprints and specifications into precise cost projections.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Evaluation & Estimating:

  • Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to understand scope and requirements.

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and material measurements.

  • Calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for roofing projects.

• Bid Preparation & Analysis:

  • Develop comprehensive and competitive bid proposals that reflect current market pricing.

  • Collaborate with project managers to identify potential cost-saving measures and optimize project budgets.

  • Analyze historical data and project outcomes to refine future estimates.

• Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination:

  • Solicit, review, and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services.

  • Maintain strong professional relationships with industry vendors and partners.

• Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of estimates, bids, and project costs.

  • Prepare regular reports and updates for management, highlighting cost variances and budget trends.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and local regulations.

• Team Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and on-site personnel to clarify project details.

  • Participate in project meetings, offering insights and recommendations based on cost analysis.

  • Provide mentorship to junior estimators, sharing best practices and lessons learned.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience:

  • A high school diploma is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is .

  • 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably focusing on roofing or related trades.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

  • Experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, PlanSwift, or similar tools) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

• Core Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and cost efficiency.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Ability to perform field visits to project sites as needed.

• Comfortable working in both office environments and active construction sites.

• May require occasional travel to meet with vendors, attend industry conferences, or visit job sites.
