Work Comp 360 has partnered with a Manufacturing Company in Orange County and is currently hiring a Molding Process Technician. This is a temporary to contract position.
This position will perform mold setting, startup and production mold troubleshooting as well as new mold testing & qualification. This requires mechanical mold evaluation as well as establishing mold processes in accordance with company mold test procedures. Complete process book documentation on each mold is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties may be assigned. In addition, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility at a 3 level or higher (range 1 to 5 level) to be considered performing satisfactory in the position:
1. Responsible for setting up for test including setting mold, auxiliary equipment, sprue pickers, servo robots, EOA tooling, loaders, feeders,
materials, etc. and achieving desired quality and optimal cycle time for each mold.
2. Testing of molds in accordance to company procedures.
3. Each mold approval must have a complete process book completed to document all of the process parameters and set up requirements.
4. Verify critical dimensions and cosmetic requirements, if applicable are in specification using customer drawings and approved samples.
5. Start and troubleshoot all production molding machines in accordance with production schedule.
6. Assist in the establishment of a machine “Runs Best” guide for each mold.
7. Perform Line Clearance at the end of the production run per company procedure.
8. Perform Molding Machine Preventive Maintenance and documentation.
9. Work as Directed EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, telephone, molding machines and related equipment
QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess strong injection mold processing experience. Hands on experience with all aspects of molding machine setup and processing.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Proven experience in injection mold set ups, startup, and process optimization. Experience with Hot runner molds desirable. Hot Sprue and complex molds with multiple slide actions is required. Insert Molding and Over molding is required.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Must be proficient with the use of a desktop computer using Windows based operating system. Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, these are our primary communications tools. Must become highly proficient with Manufacturing ERP or IQMS in manufacturing related modules. These include but are not limited to: Work Orders, Production Reporting, Inventory, Preventive Maintenance, Real Time, Bill of Materials or related modules.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and hands on experience with new mold start-ups, and complex molds are required. Knowledge of scientific molding methods, SPC, DOE, and mold process optimization are desirable. An excellent understanding of molds at the mechanical and component level is required. Experience with robotics and secondary operations equipment is required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
