The Role
As an NDT Supervisor, you will play a critical role in overseeing the NDT inspection team, ensuring that all inspection processes meet the highest standards of quality. You will be responsible for managing the daily workflow, conducting and supervising various NDT inspections, and providing support to your team. The key responsibilities for the role include:
* Supervising and Leading the NDT Team: Managing and directing the inspection team’s daily operations to ensure optimal productivity and adherence to high standards
* Performing Inspections: Conducting and overseeing DPI (Dye Penetrant Inspection), MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection), and Visual Inspections, ensuring all are carried out to ASME standards
* Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for all inspections and issuing detailed reports on findings to relevant stakeholders
* Training and Development: Providing technical guidance and training to the inspection team, helping to enhance their skills and ensuring they are up to date with the latest industry practices
* Health and Safety Compliance: Ensuring all inspections are carried out in compliance with Health & Safety regulations, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), and calibration controls
* Quality Control: Identifying any defects or quality issues during inspections and stopping production to prevent the delivery of faulty components
* Collaboration with Other Departments: Working closely with other departments to ensure the highest quality standards are met and supporting troubleshooting efforts when necessary
Key Requirements
Essential:
* NDT Supervisor experience, with certifications in PCN Level 2 & ASNT OR PCN & NAS410 (1-day ASNT course provided) OR ASNT & NAS410 (additional training required)
* Experience in performing and supervising DPI, MPI, and Visual Inspections
* A solid background in welded component inspection, ideally from industries such as heavy engineering, nuclear, oil & gas, petrochemical, or agriculture
Desirable:
* Experience in Radiography and Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
* Previous supervisory or mentoring experience
* Willingness to train and gain Level 3 certification
