Northeast Region Operations Manager

Job DescriptionJob Description

We Guide, You Grow LLC is recruiting an experienced and dynamic Northeast Region Operations Manager for a leading transportation and logistics company to oversee daily operations across our terminal locations in the Northeast. This role is critical for ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and the retention of qualified drivers and independent contractors. A strong background in transportation operations, particularly in trucking, is essential. Additionally, this position requires someone with exceptional leadership skills, the ability to enforce policies with consistency and authority, and a keen interest in safety.

Spanish proficiency is a must as it is essential for effective communication within the team and with drivers. A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus, as is a background in safety, but we are open to candidates with a solid operational background in trucking and a strong interest in safety practices.

Responsibilities:

1. Terminal Oversight & Support:
•    Regularly visit terminal locations across the Northeast to assess current operational needs and provide support for terminal managers in optimizing performance and planning for future growth.

2. Workload Management & Efficiency:
•    Organize, prioritize, and assign tasks to maximize team efficiency and productivity. Ensure that operations are conducted according to company policies and in compliance with industry regulations.

3. Leadership & Development:
•    Lead, supervise, and evaluate direct reports. Provide clear guidance, set expectations, and motivate team members to consistently meet performance goals. Maintain a leadership style that is both firm and fair — someone who can enforce policies while maintaining respect and fostering a positive working environment.

4. Independent Contractor Advisory:
•    Serve as an active participant in the Independent Contractors Advisory Committee, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring a mutually beneficial partnership.

5. Cross-Departmental Coordination:
•    Foster strong communication with other departments (e.g., driver recruitment, safety) to ensure prompt and effective resolution of driver issues, concerns, or logistical challenges.

6. Regulatory Compliance & Awareness:
•    Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations, particularly those related to the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.). Ensure the company adheres to all regulatory guidelines to avoid compliance issues and penalties.

7. Policy Development & Recommendations:
•    Review current operational policies and recommend updates to improve efficiency, safety, and profitability, ensuring alignment with D.O.T. regulations and company best practices.

8. Driver Communication & Education:
•    Effectively communicate D.O.T. rules, company policies, and any new regulatory updates to drivers and Independent Contractors in both English and Spanish.

9. Legal & Regulatory Analysis:
•    Stay informed about changes to transportation laws and analyze how these affect company operations. Proactively adjust processes to stay compliant and maintain efficiency.

10. Safety Program Oversight:
•    Ensure that all operations adhere to Trucking’s safety program. While a formal safety background is a plus, candidates with trucking operations experience and an interest in safety will be strongly considered. Provide training to employees to ensure consistent safety practices.

11. Operational Improvement:
•    Identify opportunities for operational improvement and propose new methods, systems, or technologies to enhance performance, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency.

12. Additional Responsibilities:
•    Perform any other duties as required by business necessity or as assigned by executive management.

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
•    Minimum of 5 years in transportation or logistics operations, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
•    Proven experience in trucking operations, including knowledge of D.O.T. regulations, fleet management, and driver recruitment/retention.
•    Experience in safety management or a strong interest in developing safety protocols.
•    Fluency in Spanish is a must for effective communication with team members and drivers.
•    A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus, but not required.
•    Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to assert authority and enforce policies without being an accommodator. Must be able to motivate, guide, and hold team members accountable while maintaining respect and professionalism.
•    Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
•    Ability to handle difficult conversations with a firm yet respectful approach.
•    High level of integrity and professionalism.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant transportation software tools.
•    Ability to travel frequently within the Northeast region.
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing operational needs with safety and compliance requirements.
•    Capable of managing both strategic and operational tasks, requiring flexibility and multitasking.

Salary:
•    $60,000 - $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
•    Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan, and more.
