NPI Sr Process Engineer

Overview Provide engineering technical leadership, support and direction for complex projects on new product launches and existing product line support around new and existing processes. Responsibilities Leads projects for the research, development, and implementation of new processes & materials with a focus on joining processes using adhesives, soldering, welding and mechanical attachment:Propose and implement innovative solutions for manufacturing process problemsPerforms experiments in order to compile and evaluate test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specificationsCreates project plans including, creation of schedules, design of experiments, development of equipment, budgetary considerations, and process implementation.Introduces new processes and equipment into production with a high quality level, on time and budget to meet the project requirementsUse technologies and processes to manufacture products that improve manufacturing impact on employee health, safety, and environmental improvements.Align with site operations & work with Product Development to draft the process strategy, provide Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/DFA) input into the new product designsWorks with Quality Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to create process flows, Plant-Layouts (Mfg/Assembly Line Design), Control Plans, Standard Work, Operator Instructions, Inspection Gaging Plans, Process FMEA’s, Value Stream Maps, etc. for new processesAct as process contact window to Niles Corporate team, leveraging process ideas from or to the sister plants.Support exiting MOL and new products with equipment trials including adhesive dispense, press fit, auto solder, laser marking, and other equipment trials.Periodically visits outside supplier Manufacturing Facilities and suggests areas for process improvement and/or automation to improve quality, safety, or reduced cost.Creates, maintains, and mentors others on project documentation, including but not limited to schedules, drawings, lab notebooks, process reports, and project files.Acts as mentor to less senior engineers and support personnel in the areas of process engineering and associated equipment. Qualifications B.S. in Engineering. Mechanical, and/or Manufacturing Engineering preferredMinimum 5 years experience with 7 ~ 10 years experience preferredEnglish (reading and writing) skills. Experience with general office computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets, and office communications).Mini-Tab experience preferred.Travel for project work - both local and to sites in the US, Mexico & China (estimated 10%).Management presentation and communication skills and experience.Lean / 6Sigma certification (GB or BB)Knowledge of adhesivesExperience with manufacturing equipmentAble to read and understand mechanical and part drawingsWHO WE ARE.Shure’s mission is to be the most trusted audio brand worldwide – and for nearly a century, our Core Values have aligned us to be just that.
