Nuclear Emergency Preparedness Specialist

System One is seeking a highly capable Nuclear Emergency Preparedness Specialist for a project focused on advanced nuclear reactor technology. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the plant design meets or exceeds all requirements for emergency planning. This role is onsite in Everett, WA.

This position is in the Operation Support team and will be supported by previous operators. In this position, you will develop Emergency Action Levels (EALs), associated procedures, and required bases documents. The ideal candidate will have a background and experience in Emergency Preparedness from an existing commercial nuclear power plant, with direct expertise in the creation or modification of both on-site and off-site related station guidance.

Responsibilities Report directly to the Operations Support Procedure Outline and Program Lead.

Create the plant design Emergency Action Levels (EALs) and associated bases

Ensure the plant design Emergency Preparedness plan is meeting all industry required regulations and best practices.

Develop and write the Emergency Plan and implementing procedures with the technical support of Licensing, Risk Analysis, and Engineering

Strong understanding of 10 CFR 50.160, 10 CFR 50.47 and 10 CFR 50.54q.

Experience in communicating and working with the NRC, in pre-application meetings and audits.

Knowledgeable in developing onsite and augmented ERO Staffing Analysis.

Key Qualifications and Skills Undergraduate degree in chemical, environmental, or biological sciences or equivalent industry and 5+ years’ work experience.

Deep knowledge of commercial nuclear EALs and bases

Ability to work effectively with a team and independently with minimum supervision and to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.

The ability to interpret, implement and comply with Federal, State, and local regulations and interact with agencies.

Strong communication skills and ability to work cross departmentally.

Ability to self-manage, good research ability and knowledge of plant operations.

Ability to analyze safety-related technical issues and data.

Knowledge of rules and regulations relative to emergency preparedness and safety, especially in licensing of facilities.

Demonstrated ability to provide judgment, innovation, and technical expertise in applying regulations and best practices.

The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork
