Major Recruitment is currently seeking Nuclear Mechanical Design Engineers at all levels to join our prestigious client on numerous long-term projects, expected to last over 10 years. Our client, a leading well-known supplier to the UK's nuclear industry and a global presence, is offering exceptional opportunities across the entire nuclear life cycle.

Day to day, you could be creating cutting-edge designs, leading on project delivery, or providing solutions to our many clients. This will be be instrumental in supporting various key sectors in the United Kingdom, such as nuclear decommissioning, power , new construction, and defence. This position ensures the growth, sustainability, and security of these vital industries.

Hybrid: 3 days working in the office and 2 days working from home.

Location: West Lakes based office.

Main responsibilities may include:

\n

  • \nFoster Effective Collaboration: Promote seamless cooperation across Engineering and various functional teams.
  • \n

  • \nCustomer Management Support: Contribute to the effective management of customers by facilitating communication and building relationships with both existing and new clients. This support aids in business development, resolving technical and delivery issues, and ensuring that customers are well-informed about project progress.
  • \n

  • \nApplication of Standards: Ensure that procedures, codes, and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
  • \n

  • \nAdherence to Engineering Standards: Similarly, ensure that procedures, codes, and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
  • \n

  • \nProject Safety: Contribute to the Project Safety Assessment process.
  • \n

  • \nRisk Management: Ensure that task and project risks are communicated and managed effectively.
  • \n

  • \nTechnical Documentation: Produce, review, and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation, and technical reports as assigned.
  • \n

  • \nChange Assessment: Evaluate the implications of changes, concessions, and queries.
  • \n

  • \nEngineering Configuration: Maintain the engineering configuration, ensuring that the overall design intent and integrity are maintained throughout the design lifecycle.
  • \n

  • \nProblem Solving: Evaluate technical issues to develop proposals for investigations and solutions, including process improvements.
  • \n

  • \nProject Support: Provide support to the Project Manager in planning, controlling, and delivering tasks and projects.
  • \n

  • \nEngineering Decisions: Make engineering decisions within your designated sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
  • \n

  • \nTechnical Leadership: Act as Technical Authority or Engineering Lead when authorized to do so.
  • \n

  • \nSafety and Ethical Standards: Ensure the application of the highest standards for health and safety within your immediate area of responsibility and ensure that all team members across engineering adhere to company standards related to health, safety, environment, ethics, and behaviours.
  • \n

  • \nContinuous Learning: Stay up to date in relevant technical areas and develop the skills and capabilities necessary for effective delivery. Maintain knowledge of industry best practices, promote a culture of engineering excellence, and support the cultural development and change.

  • \nLearning from Experience: Contribute to the learning from experience (LfE) requirement, both during and after a project.
  • \n

  • \nBusiness Development Support: Support business development opportunities.
  • \n

  • \nHealth and Safety Compliance: Exercise care for your own health and safety and that of others as defined by Health and Safety legislation. Adhere to endorsed company policies, procedures, and delegations (e.g., Health & Safety, & , Performance & Development Reviews, and Finance, etc.). Ensure the application of the highest standards for health and safety in your immediate area of responsibility and ensure individual cooperation with respect to company standards related to health, safety, and environment, ethics, and behaviours.

  • \nTender Review: Support the business winning process by providing input into or reviewing tender requirements, including estimates.

Experience/Qualifications/Skills:

\n

Essential:

\n

    \n
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, delivering activities across a variety of project types.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated experience in tackling a wide range of tasks, spanning different levels of complexity.
  • \n

  • Strong communication skills and the capability to interface effectively with professionals from other disciplines.
  • \n

  • You are someone who owns and delivers, who champions high performance and is courageous to challenge the status quo.
  • \n

  • A degree in engineering (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant engineering discipline, complemented by substantial demonstrable experience.
  • \n

  • Strong knowledge of CAD tools and General Engineering Drawing Practice.
  • \n

Qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • BEng/MEng: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering.
  • \n

  • Chartered status ( but not essential)
  • \n

  • At least 3 years' experience working on nuclear projects.
  • \n

  • UK Driving License: A valid UK driving license is necessary.
  • \n

  • British Passport: You must possess a British passport.
  • \n

  • Right to Work: You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • \n
