Job Description:


The Nuclear Medicine PET/CT Technologist is responsible for compassionate and appropriate care while performing Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT procedures under the direction of a physician to assist in the medical diagnosis or treatment of a patient.

Scope


The scope of responsibilities includes facilities and departments as assigned by Imaging Services leadership and includes temporary shift assignments.

Responsibilities include knowledge of the processes, equipment, and procedures to safely perform Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT procedures independently, regularly, and frequently.

This position is used in facilities that consistently and regularly perform PET/CT exams.

Job Essentials


Performs proper radiation safety protocols, proper handling, measurement, calibration, and administration of radioactive sources and radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.


Performs and executes processes for receiving, documenting, handling, storing and administering of radiopharmaceuticals in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT


Ensures proper patient identification, verifies orders, and prepares the patient for the exam


Performs Nuclear Medicine and PETCT examinations per departmental protocol, exhibits competence in scanning parameters, and ensures that the appropriate radioactive material is given to the correct patient through the proper route for imaging and treatment purposes


Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques


Maintains competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job


Follows appropriate State Division of Radiation Control, NRC, and Intermountain policy and procedure including clinical documentation, billing, and electronic medical workflows.

Shift Details


This is for a PET/CT role


PRN (on - call, as needed)


10 hour shifts (Days)

Minimum Qualifications


Completion of a formal Nuclear Med Tech training program.


ARRT NM or NMTCB Registration.


Current state Radiology Tech License.


Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.


One year of Nuclear Medicine experience.


One year of PET/CT experience.

Experience can be acquired concurrently; student hour experience may count.

Experience is at the discretion of hiring leader.
