Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Reports to: Nuclear Medicine Manager
Pay: To determine our range, we consider as many of the following data points as are available to us: external market salary survey data, internal data in terms of comparable roles and our budget for the position. What we have posted is our good faith estimate of what we expect to pay: $34-$42 an hour.
Summary: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist works as a member of the Nuclear Medicine Team, reporting to the Nuclear Medicine Manager. This role provides Nuclear Medicine based imaging to patients and supports the patient experience throughout their time at GLMI. Effective communication between departments and exemplary patient care must be maintained. This role performs a variety of tasks beyond Nuclear Medicine imaging including; patient calls, documentation in charts, and assisting with both patient and other co-worker needs.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Orders, receives, documents, stores and returns radiopharmaceuticals in accordance
with the NYS DOH.
- Accurately prepares, documents, dispenses and administers radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with the NYS DOH.
- Effectively performs daily, weekly and monthly QC on the nuclear medicine and PET/CT cameras. Compiles and maintains accurate QC information.
- Performs daily QA on Hot Lab equipment, to include the dose calibrator, well counter and survey meter. Maintain up to date QA documentation and dose administration records, complying with all State and Federal regulations.
- Positively identifies patient by at least two forms of identification
- Demonstrates proficiency in starting intravenous catheter line and injecting isotopes.
- Performs diagnostic exams on patients as prescribed by physician and per protocol manual, resulting in high quality exams.
- Follows Radiation Safety and ALARA concept and its relationship to work procedures and
work conditions.
- Utilizes RIS/PACS Computer system to maintain patient information maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensures all pertinent history is complete and accurate.
- Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing exams. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors. Accurately documents all incidents utilizing the appropriate forms.
- Consistently maintains a clean and safe working environment. Ensures equipment is cleaned between patient uses and keeps work areas in order.
- Maintains proper inventory on all supplies and ensure no shortages of supplies that cause delay in patient care.
- Practices medical aseptic techniques. Ensures appropriate PPE is used at all times.
- Effectively performs other duties as assigned by management and/or leadership.

Necessary Skills:
- Uses computer and software relative to position effectively and efficiently in the working environment.
- Must be able to assist patients on/off tables and wheelchairs as needed.
- Communicates clearly and effectively both orally and written.
- Strong customer service skills
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed by NYS DOH
- Certified or Registered NMT-American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (RT, N) OR Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT)
- Basic Life Support Certification
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- May be asked to lift up to 50 pounds
- Standing, walking, sitting, keyboard use for long periods of time
- Ability to listen and communicate with patients face to face or over the phone
- Will be required to read, write, work in a fast-paced office setting
- Ability to make decisions and think quickly
- Must have mental and physical capabilities to perform all tasks listed above
