What you’ll be doing:

\n

    \n
  • Providing input to the Principal Engineering Manager (Site Safety Case) on production of effective safety cases through application of appropriate analytical methods and development of the documentation structure
  • \n

  • Responsible for the provision of authoritative advice, guidance, mentoring and coaching of safety case specialists to develop and maintain an effective safety case capability
  • \n

  • Providing authoritative guidance on the development of an appropriate safety case structure, development processes and associated analytical methods
  • \n

  • Acting as a senior SME for safety case development
  • \n

  • Ensuring that the Site Safety Case Team undertakes all activities in a manner consistent with Company Policy, Business Processes and the Quality Assurance programme
  • \n

  • Acting as a point of contact with internal and external safety and regulatory authorities
  • \n

  • Representing the company at internal/external meetings associated with safety and regulation of nuclear sites as necessary
  • \n

Your skills and experiences:

\n

Essential:

\n

    \n
  • Degree in STEM subject (or equivalent experience)
  • \n

  • Extensive knowledge of the techniques and methodology used in the development of safety cases that meet relevant good practice
  • \n

  • UK nuclear legislation, nuclear industry, site licensing, authorisation and environmental permitting and associated industry guidance
  • \n

\n

Desirable:

\n

    \n
  • Knowledge of the UK nuclear regulatory landscape and permissioning requirements
  • \n

  • Experience within the UK submarine build programme
  • \n

  • Attained, or working towards, Membership of a relevant professional institute
  • \n

Site Safety Case team:

\n

The team is responsible for producing nuclear safety cases supporting build and commissioning activities for the Astute- and Dreadnought-class submarines, and to enable ongoing Site Redevelopment Project works where they interface with the submarine build programmes. We are also responsible for delivering the Periodic Review of Safety work package.

\n

As a Nuclear Safety Case Developer, you will be providing authoritative guidance on the development of an appropriate safety case structure, development processes and associated analytical methods. Additionally, you will be responsible for the development of training packages focussed on nuclear safety methodologies and delivering these as required in order to ensure the Site Safety Case team staff are appropriately trained.

In this role you will have exposure to a number of exciting programmes that are key to the UK’s security.
