Job Purpose
The Pipeline Engineer will be a key contributor to a major CCUS FEED and EPC project in the UK and lead the detailed design aspects of the offshore section of the pipeline that will be utilised for CO2 transportation and disposal in North Sea oil reservoirs. The role will sit within the client engineering team on behalf of Genesis. The role will be based in the Genesis office in St Pauls with occasional travel as needed. This will be on a PAYE contract basis, with the potential to go permanent with Genesis.
Key duties
Reviews and endorses EPCI pipeline deliverables as agreed in the DDM; owns the SV&O responsibilities for the nearshore/offshore pipeline scope and monitors EPCI SV according to the established processes; provides technical assurance and assesses compliance of EPCIS deliverables to the engineering contractors including Project Specifications, client standards and international codes and standards.
Proactively engage with the wider Engineering Team, Construction Team and Commissioning Team as required to review and manage multi-disciplinary technical interfaces relevant to design, installation and pre-commissioning/commissioning.
Attend technical meetings with the Project Team and the EPCIS (e.g. regular and ad-hoc meetings, HAZOPS, FLRAS, PHSSERS, Design/Safety/Constructability Reviews).
Performs analyses and produces technical reports (e.g. decision papers, technical notes) as required to support the Project.
Manages interface requests, technical queries, and deviation requests relevant to the nearshore/offshore pipeline scope.
Supports the ETL managing the Project risk register and actively manages and maintains major pipeline engineering risks and opportunities.
Required Skills and experience
Chartered Engineer with extensive experience in detailed design as pipeline engineer/lead pipeline engineer during project execution phase.
Proven track record of overall management of pipeline design package delivery in a lead capacity.
Strong technical background in offshore pipeline design at detailed design level including wall thickness, on-bottom stability, free span and on-bottom roughness, upheaval and lateral buckling, fatigue and fracture, installation analysis; knowledge of DNV offshore pipeline design codes; familiarity with managing multi-disciplinary technical interfaces (e.g. flow assurance, materials, fracture mechanics, geotech, installation, pre-commissioning) and supervising engineering activities.
Experience with offshore pipelay and seabed intervention.
Based in London area: office attendance 3 days/week, with occasional travel to other locations.
Desirable experience
Experience with CO2 pipeline systems.
Experience with landfall design/construction.
Experience with North Sea offshore pipeline projects.
