Offshore Structural Engineer
Roles and responsibilities Provides Structural design calculations & drawings within stipulated time by providing the proper guidance & technical support Produce, review, and take responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations, Structural engineering datasheets and drawings to specify the Structural engineering requirements of our projects As required, perform the role of Lead Offshore Structural Engineer including estimating and planning work as well as progress reporting. Follow company standards and procedures to schedule and budget as advised by the Lead Offshore Structural Engineer Remain up to date with the latest technical developments in your fields of expertise Demonstrate, provide and develop appropriate technical solutions for specific project issues Ensure the delivery of challenging project and client targets using sound technical knowledge and decision-making skills Familiarity with engineering software such as STAAD.PRO, SACS, Matt 3D, etc. - both as a user and checker. Take a proactive approach to personal & professional development. Ensure Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work Demonstrate appreciation of commercial and technical risks, managing these appropriately within own work and highlighting any significant issues to Lead Structural Engineer/ Engineering Manager. Seek and support opportunities for department and project improvement and contribute to developing solutions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Structural or Offshore Marine Engineering or Similar Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. Proven core Structural Engineering skills, including design experience and preferably in the offshore Oil & Gas sector. Experience of working in a variety of projects and phases, including greenfield and brownfield, on and offshore, Pre-FEED through to EPC, with a focus on offshore upstream. A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness Ability to impact and influence fellow workers Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving project and corporate objectives Desired candidate profile Design and Analysis : Leading the design and structural analysis of buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure, ensuring compliance with codes and standards. Project Management : Managing projects from conception to completion, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely delivery and adherence to budgets. Technical Leadership : Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams, promoting best practices in structural engineering. Quality Assurance : Conducting peer reviews of design calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Site Inspections : Performing site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure that structural work complies with design specifications and quality standards. Problem Solving : Identifying and resolving design and construction issues that arise, proposing innovative solutions as needed. Collaboration : Working closely with architects, civil engineers, and contractors to integrate structural designs with overall project objectives. Regulatory Compliance : Ensuring that all designs comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. Documentation : Preparing detailed reports, specifications, and documentation related to design decisions, project progress, and compliance.
