Offshore Wind Electrical/Subestation Project Engineer
We are looking for a Project Engineer with strong technical experience in the electrical design of offshore wind projects. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, analysing and optimising electrical power systems across a variety of power generation, transmission, and distribution assets relating to offshore wind projects (HVAC and HVDC). Key Accountabilities Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, analyse, and optimise electrical systems for offshore wind projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Design and engineer electrical systems for offshore wind energy substations. Collaborate with project teams to ensure technical solutions are optimized for offshore environments. Oversee the integration of substations with existing wind farm infrastructure. Conduct detailed electrical analysis and simulations to ensure system reliability and efficiency. Develop technical specifications, engineering drawings, and documentation of electrical components, systems, and interfaces. Review power system studies, fault analysis, and protection coordination to ensure the reliability and safety of offshore wind electrical systems. Provide technical support during project development, construction, commissioning, and operational phases, addressing any electrical engineering challenges that may arise. Stay updated with the latest advancements in offshore wind technology and incorporate innovative solutions into project designs. Interface with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and project progression. Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation strategies to ensure the successful execution of offshore wind projects. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with team members to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning. Develop relationships with clients, identifying and pursuing project opportunities, and/or providing support and direction on tenders and bids. Required Education and Professional Experience 10 years of professional experience in offshore wind projects with a deep understanding of electrical power systems across a variety of power generation, transmission and distribution assets relating to offshore wind projects. It is requested previous experience in the electrical design of HVAC and HVDC offshore substations. Required Knowledge & Hard Skills Proven experience in electrical engineering of offshore wind farms. Desirable experience in offshore wind projects in the UK and in offshore wind floating projects. Proven expertise in power system analysis, electrical equipment specification, and integration of renewable energy sources. HVAC and HVDC experience is required. Detailed knowledge of the design, specification, construction, operation and maintenance of distribution and transmission level power networks electrical plant including gas and air-insulated switchgear, transformers, dynamic reactive compensation and harmonic filters. Particular experience with power cables is desirable. In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards such as IEC, DNV, UK Grid Codes, etc. Experience in project management, with an understanding of technical interfaces and project finance management. Fluent in written and spoken Spanish and English when interfacing with various disciplines and stakeholders, both in person and virtually. Other Skills Leadership skills.
