Operations Manager

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager with a passion for distribution to join a well-established logistics company. The successful candidate will bring innovative ideas and fresh perspectives to enhance the efficiency and success of an already robust supply chain.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure day-to-day operational requirements consistently meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Lead and oversee the company's Health & Safety protocols.
  • Exceed all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), conducting regular one-on-one meetings with the management team to maximise performance.
  • Manage and develop the management team, identifying key individuals for future leadership roles and supporting the company's growth and succession planning.
  • Recruit, train, and retain a high-performing team aligned with customer standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK & EU laws and regulations concerning vehicle safety, environmental controls, traffic management, and driver hours.
  • Proven experience in pallet networking, groupage, LTL & FTL, and warehouse management, with a focus on profitable transport operations (desirable) .
  • Oversee profit and loss (P&L) for operations and provide coaching to junior staff on budget management.
  • Demonstrate a track record of achieving high-level KPIs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and third-party partners.


Requirements:

  • Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (required).
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety ().
  • Previous experience managing an Operator's Licence for a fleet of 30+ vehicles.
  • Experience managing at least 30+ full-time employees (FTEs).
  • Experience in pallet networking (as a depot).
  • Class 1 HGV licence ().


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: £45,000.00 - £50,000.00 per year.
  • Initial holiday entitlement of 28 days, inclusive of 8 public holidays, with an additional day per full year of service (up to a maximum of 5 extra days).
