At MicroKits, we're making educational electronic kits and mini musical instruments, with a mission to make learning about circuits and physics fun and creative. We do all our final assembly in house in our workshop in downtown Charlottesville, and have many cool new products on the way!

I, David, have gradually grown this business from scratch for about the last 5 years. Now that our first few products are successful, it's a full time to sustain manufacturing and keep up with admin tasks. Thus this post! I have many day to day tasks to delegate, and also have longer term projects for you to tackle once you get the routine down. With your help, we'll be able to deliver many new products, and get the next interested in how technology works.

Responsibilities:

  • Take over manufacturing planning and procurement processes.
  • Perform routine admin/customer service/office/production machine task.
  • Take on projects such as finding new suppliers, setting up a crowdfunding backend, preparing for trade shows, and reaching out to international distributors.
  • Document our current processes and prepare the company for further growth.

Qualifications:

  • The most important thing is overall diligence, ownership, and ability to set up systems that don't yet exist.
  • Interest in working in a small team in a small business with a lot of growth potential.
  • Experience with procurement, manufacturing planning, or managing B2B sales.
  • Experience with a manufacturing or inventory tracking system is a plus. We use MRPeasy here.
  • Experience with Amazon Seller, Shopify, Kickstarter a plus.
  • Ability to move 20 lb boxes often, and sometimes move 50 lbs items.
  • No electronics experience needed, I'll teach you the difference between a capacitor and resistor.
