Operations Manager (Payments and Forecasting), VP

Who we are looking forPlay key leadership role overseeing State Street’s Hong Kong Payments and Forecasting team responsible for settlement of payments, local Self-Clearing and nostro forecasting and funding.Candidate is expected to champion organization’s transformational efforts and progression to real time payments and a single global payment platform.Guide the prioritization of Modernization and transformational initiatives, both internal and driven by the regulatory landscape.Consistently track and monitor department performance and operating environment, recognize and manage risk. Remain current on all regulatory rules industry changes and ensure timely implementation of changes and updates. Represent State Street as payments subject matter expert, interacting with clients and external industry working groups and committees. Ensure all regulatory and compliance requirements are met without exception and participate in regulatory examinations as needed. Develop plans, tools and training to manage and support implementation activities for all initiatives both tactical and strategic with an impact to the Team. Demonstrate exceptional people management skills through regular coaching and development of staff and managers. What you will be responsible forChange ManagementLead and promote change management and corporate strategy initiatives within GD - Payments (locally / globally)Active contributions to the local Payments management team and global working groups.Adopt a proactive role in promoting local initiatives and capabilities across Payments operations units and support other units (i.e. Global Treasury, Global Markets and Security Services)Represent State Street in industry groups; keep up to date on legislative and market requirements. Be aware of the impact of any changes on the groups operating model and client baseProducts / Services SupportedHKD and CNY self-clearingPayment Processing - SWIFT, ISO20022Forecasting – Secondary and Primary Nostro AccountsCLS Support - Control Branch & Custody 3rd PartyRegional Securities TradingStaff Management and ResourcingManage overall headcount and resourcingCommunicate corporate strategies and core objectives to all staff.Ensure that recruitment, training, performance management and salary/bonus strategies are managed/achievedCompletion of Performance and Planning Reviews and setting of goals and objectives as well as individual development plansCreate an environment which promotes teamwork, motivates, rewards and supports all staffEnsure appropriate resources and support, including training and industry sessions, are available to enable staff to achieve business and personal objectivesEnsure staff are trained in line with local regulatory and accreditation requirementsRisk and ComplianceEnsure full compliance with State Street’s Corporate Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, relevant legislation and regulatory requirementsEnsure the departments risk profile is continually assessed and monitored (Operational, Fiduciary, Documentary and Reputational). Work with the management team to eliminate deficiencies, detect major areas of risk and implement best practices.Ensure completion of management and risk reporting, ensure the reporting reflects the businesses risk profiles and, key performance and risk indicators.Primary point of contact for all internal / externals audits in region; findings are to be assessed, actioned and non recurringEnsure a business continuity plan for areas of responsibility is in place inconjunction with your Global Team. Invoke contingency procedures as required. Communicate actions to senior management and business continuity manager.Financial ManagementAssist with the preparations of the departments budget; monitor and analyse budget and expensesReview and analyse the costs (direct / indirect) associated with the services provided by the department; work to increase efficiencies and reduce costsClient Service / RelationshipKeep current on the account status of customers (internal / external) and 3rd party agents; participate in the resolution of high level problems as requiredDevelop strategies that will improve efficiency and customer satisfactionEnsure that timely feedback is provided to internal servicing units and 3rd party agents via the relevant relationship ownersEnsure that annual reviews are completed of active SLA’s. Ensure open items are monitored and regular updates are received from operational managersDevelop and sustain relationships by initiating communication on a regular basisMonitor internal service delivery levels against established standards; Ensure that GD - Payments Operations, State Street custody operations, Global Treasury & SSGM operations are informed of changes in processes and market requirementsWhat we valueEducation and Experience 10 years experience in the financial services industry in particular treasury, payments and funding/forecastingProven capabilities in operational and staff management (minimum 5 years experience)Extensive experience in the development and maintenance of relationshipsStrong working knowledge of major financial instruments and products impacting cash flowAbility to work with a Global Team and productively work with teams and management in other geographic areas and time zonesSkills/Knowledge Ability to provide leadership, vision and direction for managers and staffDecisive with demonstrated ability to make decisions calmly and rationally in stressful situations.Effectively communicate with clients and senior management, as well as staff and peers within State StreetDemonstrate the ability to analyse a problem, obtain and evaluate information, and make sound decisionsEmbrace State Street’s “corporate values”; create a work environment that inspires our staff to demonstrate those values in every aspect of their rolesThe above cited duties and responsibilities describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to the job.
